The new F-201, which supersedes the F-101, is designed to provide for the measurements of coefficient of friction (both static & kinetic), laminate peel - strip tests & tensile stretching - breaking point measurements, It is portable, quickly set up at any location or carried from plant to plant for quality control checks. The F-201 can be used to test the characteristics of paper, film, foil, plastics and similar materials, especially to evaluate chemicals or additives which are used to create or eliminate friction, laminations, or tensile variations. It is constructed of aluminum extrusions with teflon film bonded on to the working surface. The motor has a pull capacity of 30 pounds (at 6 inches per minute) with a variable speed control that ranges from 1.0 to 12 inches per minute, with 6 inches being the most common. This range covers the requirements of the different ASTM procedures. There are safety cut-off features to reduce force overloads, and an adjustable leveling system. Digital Force Gauges are available for the F-201. They are the F-300 LCD readout series.
KBr press simplifies and improves the process of producing pellets.
The QUICK PRESS, developed by R.J. Harvey Instrument Corp., was principally designed for the production of KBr pellets. The QUICK PRESS requires no outside source of energy to produce consistently reliable pellets. The simple lever mechanism translates the pressure of no more than a firm handshake into a clear, perfect pellet. To produce 3mm and 7mm diameter pellets, 2 sets of polished
dies are available. The amount of potassium bromide powder used may be
varied from a few mg. to up to 200 mg. The QUICK PRESS is calibrated so
that it is possible to duplicate the force from pellet to pellet by
the simple rotation of a dial. Once a pellet has been formed, the two
anvils are separated and removed. The pellet is contained by the
stainless steel collar and is now available for mounting. One can use
